But most likely it’s because we offer the best value in hostel accommodation in San Diego with our Gaslamp entertainment district location, our exclusively-designed ‘privacy pods’ and our truly unique style of hacienda-meets-hippie-meets-Victorian décor. Built when mining was bringing settlers to the new town of San Diego, our location originally housed a brothel. Wyatt Earp (of Dodge City fame) was among those attracted to the city by mining and the related businesses that developed. Earp operated four bars and gambling houses in the Stingaree, what is now called the Gaslamp Quarter. Considering his reputation for womanizing, it’s likely he came to know our building quite well.
