“Barney Smith is a toilet genius.”
Read the name twice. Then go visit it, because pictures online don't do this offbeat attraction justice. The Toilet Seat Art Museum offers free Admission, and please be sure to call for appointment. There are over 700 toilet seats that have been over the course of 30 years by Barnet Smith, now housed in his garage where his museum sits. Free Admission, call for appointment.
Great fun, worth the quick stop to meet Barney and see the collection! Be aware that some of the collection is boxed up now, as it is being sold and moving to Dallas in late February 2019. Be patient on the phone; viewing times are limited because Barney is 97 years old and meets every guest personally!
Wish I could have seen it! Barney is now 97 years old and recovering from an injury. He mostly opens up the museum in the afternoon around 1pm to 3pm. We were in San Antonio in the early morning so we couldn't stay that late in order to stop by. Definitely call ahead. Also he is putting his museum up for sale for anyone interested.
Probably the weirdest museum that you can visit however you will be surprise to hear that every toilet seat here has a story to tell. And the 92 year old, I mean the young curator behind this amazing museum is just amazing. He has lots of stories to tell and very energetic! He started the making this creative toilet seats since he was young and up until now his works still continues. This is a MUST visit if you happen to stop by San Antonio.
Barney is the man! If you are going to visit his amazing collection make sure you call ahead so he knows that you're coming, and be ready because he sure likes to talk!
This takes potty humor to another level.
This is really a great place to visit. At 95 years Old, Barney Smith is still telling lots of interesting stories :-)
Go see Mr. Barney Smith and his art before this American Treasure of a man is no longer with us. He loves visitors and loves telling the stories of your favorite pieces.
Call ahead so you can make an appointment (since this is his home) but he will love for you to come by!
call ahead! He'll chat and open it up to you free of admission, but let him know you're coming. Awesome place.
