“Keeping Transportation History Alive”
Texas Transportation Museum was begun in 1964. It's a great place, built and run by volunteers who like this stuff so much we are willing to work for free! We receive no government funding of any kind and are totally dependent on the income we make from visitors. We must be doing something right if we are still here after 40 years! We are open three days a week and offer scheduled train rides on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We hope you find our site informative about the museum and the history of transportation in and around San Antonio. We really hope you will come to visit us and experience our collections, our working railroad and the various smaller scale train layouts that we operate.
