SEPTEMBER After Labor Day weekend, we open on weekends (and some weekdays when the weather is exceptionally warm and sunny) generally from noon to 9 pm. RECENT HISTORY In 1981, Gordon Pendleton (1928-1994) – graduate of Thornton Academy and the University of Maine, then teacher and Athletic Director at Deering High School in Portland – took over where Arthur Garside left off. Gordon’s extraordinary energy and enthusiasm have been key factors of the shop’s enduring success. We hire the only the best teenagers in the area who are well-mannered and hard-working. We do our best to train and support them in serving our customers and keeping the shop super clean at all times.
