This is another fine state park in the state of Michigan. It was average as far as campgrounds go, but good for a state park. It is very busy on the weekends in the summer, fully of families and boaters. Sites are dirt. Road is gravel. We didn't have any problems fitting our 40' moto rhome on the site. Beware of Swimmer's Itch if you swim here. We didn't swim, but the rangers were warning campers of it. Close to the town of Grayling and anything you might need to purchase. Verizon cell strength was variable depending upon where you are in the campground. I had 3G at our site, but got it up to a good 4G signal with a booster. Other parts of the campground did have 4G. Several OTA TV channels could be gotten.

Roscommon, Michigan – North Higgins Lake State Park
We stayed at this state park for 3 nights in site 150. Our site was not very level, mostly dirt, only had 20/30 amp electric, no sewer or water and there was a lot of road noise. Their dumping station was very clean and even had the sewer hoses for you to use so you didn’t have to get yours out.

We needed a site towards the end of November. They had some select sites available with electricity along with a vaulted toilet open. It worked great for us. It was snow coved and besides one other camper in a cabin, we were the only ones there.

Relived my childhood by camping here. The sites are close and it has a party mentality. There is only one place to fill your water tank. Beach and water are nice. Was here mid July in a Travel Trailer.

Pros:
-the most “in the woods” camping I’ve experienced in the Mitten
-beautiful walk to the lake
-dog beach
-facilities are great
-amazing FCFS grills and picnic tables right on the lake
-very close to Grayling

Cons:
-campsites are still close to one another

Overall:
Can’t wait to go back! Facilities are clean and showers were hot. The dog beach and cooking area along the beach was outstanding. Grayling has a great walkable downtown. Check out Goodales Bakery, Rolling Oak Brewing and have a coney dog pizza at Paddle Hard.

Beautiful and quiet place to make a stop, have lunch, take a nap and keep going. (We went on a weekday, by the way)
