We loved our stay here. We chose to stay on the sound side with our dogs. It was quiet, gave us expansive water views, and beautiful sunsets. It is an easy walk across the road where those with children can benefit from pools, playgrounds, and miniature golf. The dunes block any ocean views, but walkways put you directly on their beach. Several bathouses located around the grounds with clean showers and laundry facilities. Many events are planned in the clubhouse or conference center. We enjoyed the ice cream social and karaoke was held.

Stayed here in October. Most of the sound sites were empty. I choose one of the premium sites. The sites are long, but very narrow. More like a parking lot. It was great at first since no one was beside me, but a day after I arrived I was dwarfed by a huge motor home. My 30ft trailer seemed like a dinky toy. They say you can't reserve a particular site just a level of site, which is OK, but it is not on a first come first served basis. I'm not sure who decides on that I was given a number of sites I pick from, but some empty ones I couldn't choose.

The beach on the ocean side is fantastic, but it was the area of the recent shark attack. The sound side gives you great views of the sound, where the ocean side gives you close access to the beach, but views of dunes and condos.

I might stay here again, but I would first look at some of the places close by and see if the sites are a bit larger while still giving great views. My only complaint here is the narrowness of the sites.

They off free wifi, but it is useless. You can get on, but do nothing.

Stayed here for the first time because we are new to the RV life, Love the Outer Banks, and wanted to stay ocean front. Putting all of those together is tough on Hatteras Island because there are only two oceanfront campgrounds, so they are going to a little pricey. You will pay extra for over 2 people and for cable. Sites were normal popular area sites, but we had an end loop site so a little extra room. We were there out of peak season so wasn't crowded. We stayed 3 rows back from the ocean, the closer you get to water either ocean or sound, the more it cost. Staff was friendly, amenities were great, used the laundry and the pools and hot tub. Definitely cross over to the sound side around sunset, the view out over the Pamilco Sound will change your life.

This campground is right on the ocean in a great location but that's where the positives end.
In 3 yrs of Rving, this has to be in the bottom 5 campgrounds I've ever stayed in for the following reasons
1. Packed in like sardines
2. Very narrow sites, hard to navigate and park. We saw people tearing up the grass all week trying to get their campers in with no room to spare with the tight roads and cars parked all over the place
3. The slightest bit of rain turns this place into a swamp. Note, it rains all the time in the summer so expect if you're here in the summer, you will be staying in a swamp
4. Due to poor drainage, we could not use our patio for 9/10 days. There was a full inch of water covering the entire patio area. The staff tried to sump pump out some sites but it was ineffective.
5. No wifi. They advertise it but it doesn't exist. When I called they said well it's "hit or miss" and by hit or miss they mean 100% of the time not available for 10 days. ATT had good signal with about 5mb d/l speed.
6. Rude staff. If you take a look at your site and think you can't get in w/out taking out another vehicle and you ask for another site, forget about it. They don't care, they're just about making money.

I cannot fathom why this park is rated so high. I'm really looking at these other reviews wondering how our opinions are so drastically different. I will say that the ocean side sites seemed dryer and the sites along the outside were also roomier so maybe the other people stayed in those. Since you don't have a site assigned, you cannot be sure what site you're going to get. If you want to stay in this area, do yourself a favor and book the KOA next door. We stayed there a previous time and it was much nicer for the same price.

We stayed the first week of June, 2020 during the week. Paid extra to be in the second row. Sites are close together, but we spent most of the time at the beach. It was windy a lot of the time, I’m not sure if that’s the norm for the OBX. We enjoyed surf fishing and riding our bikes. There’s a tackle shop for bait on the pier. Pool was open but the other amenities were closed due to Covid-19. Very clean and the staff was friendly. You can buy 10lb bags of ice at the entrance for $3.

We stayed 2 nights June 20, and paid extra for Premium Ocean Front site. First time here. Interesting drive into Outer Banks (watch for tractors) on 64. Place is big and packed (see pics), but for time here we enjoyed and a slight breeze, even though we couldn’t see the water being up front. Check-in friendly without leaving RV. WiFi crappy as is most places this big. I did notice some other sites in the back had water build up from heavy rains as others posted, but looked like camp mngmt was working to drain. Overall a good spot, just popular end of June. Atlantic waters cold by the way.

Large campground with a ton of sites. Sites are very close. NO Trees/shade.
We were there on a holiday weekend (4th of July) so it was basically full and it was very crowded.
Staff was very friendly.
Good facilities: dog run, tennis court, put-put, corn hole, clean bathrooms and laundry.
No wifi on the sound side during our visit. They said it had been out for a while on our side of the park.
Our 30 amp breaker tripped multiple times at the pole but they had someone come replace it within 10 minutes.
Decent surf spot right out in front.
I think the staff and owners are doing a good job but it was just too crowded and packed in for my liking.
To me, it just felt like a giant parking lot.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the space are tight, and the price is quite high during the summer. However, it was an easy walk to the beach which can't be beat, so you are paying for the location. It is more of a parking lot feel with some sites difficult to navigate with large rigs, but we had no problem parking in our little camper. You can not reserve a specific site, just the general area, so it does pay to get there right at 1 p.m for check-in. It is quite a family-oriented place with many activities on site that were temporarily on hold or limited to due Covid. The dog park area was wonderful, and the bathrooms were adequate. With no shade in the park, we wish we would have brought our canopy to help beat the summer heat. We could not find any working WIFI. With Verizon, we only had limited internet outside and absolutely no coverage inside our camper. We highly recommend downloading some content before you come or bring some extra books to read.

The beach was narrow and filled with fellow RVers, but you could find a spot if you walked towards the pier. It was windy with some rough, cold surf, but it was beautiful. Windsurfing seems like a popular activity on the sound side, and there are several rental locations nearby. Speaking of the sound, I thought that the beach side was where it was at, but after crossing the street to the sound side during sunset, I think we may try to get a soundfront site the next time because the view was amazing. If you can't get sound front, it may be better to go on the beach side since the interior section was quite tight and difficult to maneuver. We were lucky that we were able to get a last-minute reservation in the summer, and we may try to go back off-season when the rates are more reasonable.

Part of the Coast 2 Coast network this RV resort only cost us $10 per night. This large modern campground is clean professionally ran and maintained like a campground should be. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sites while not large are big enough for our needs especially considering it is located on island with views of both sunrise and sunset that are truly amazing.

Fast foot truck serving breakfast lunch and dinner. Rv repair tech and rv parts store on site

While there is great 5 bar cell service, ATT and Verizon throttled us back to less than 1-2 meg speed. Wifi is available at the internet hub, but only for online surfing and mail.
