“One of Riverside's cultural landmarks”
The Historic Fox Theater reopened in January 2010 as the Fox Performing Arts Center after being transformed into a 1642-seat state-of-the-art performing arts theater. The newly restored Fox is one of Riverside's most endearing cultural landmarks and an entertainment centerpiece for the Inland Empire. Foxís Riverside Theater opened in 1929 as a cinema/vaudeville theater house. It was built with a Spanish Colonial Revival style and attracted well-known performers including Bing Crosby and Judy Garland. Additionally, it became popular as a location for motion picture previews, the theater was the site of the first public screening of ìGone with the Wind.î In 2007, the City began a major historical restoration of the Fox. Construction included an expanded stage, new stage floor, seats, lighting, audio-visual technology, a restored decorative ceiling and a refurbished lobby. The restoration captures the original grandeur of the 1929 building, with updated amenities for patron enjoyment and comfort. Now the Fox is host to Academy Award-winning artists, comedians, entertainers and Broadway shows to name a few. Visit the Fox at www.FoxRiversideLive.com for a current list of performances. Box Office is open Monday - Friday Noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
