“1/8-mile Drag Strip with lots of History”
Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip opened its doors for the first time in 1957. The track was located in Hixson, Tennessee and it was the Chattanooga area's first official drag strip. It had a great following, but nearby residents complained, and forced the track to move its operation to the current location, just off I-75 near the Tennessee/Georgia state line. The current location opened in 1964, as a 1/4-mile drag strip, but was later shortened to 1/8-mile due to safety concerns. It was home to many major events, including IHRA Points Meets, Quick 8, Pro Mod and Outlaw style events. Now, we're continuing Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip's great reputation by making major improvements to the facility. We plan to hold regular bracket racing on a weekly basis, as well as a monthly heads up race, and a number of special events throughout the year. We are open to the public, and offer a family-friendly environment, so come see what we're all about!
