Opened in August 2015, HI Richmond is located in the historic Otis Elevator Building in downtown Richmond with a mix of 6- bed dorms and private rooms. The completely renovated hostel retains the charming details of the original building while incorporating the modern features and amenities travelers desire like free WiFi, breakfast, coffee and tea. The shared kitchen, lounge and outdoor patio offer guests the opportunity to mix and mingle and the volunteer-led tours will help you make the most of your stay. With a 24-hour reception desk staffed with friendly and knowledgeable Richmond locals, we can help you discover this eclectic city from top to bottom. The city of Richmond is filled with cafés and restaurants, plenty of nightlife, and a rich American history and the hostel is centrally located to help you explore it all. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, Richmond is an ideal destination for hiking, biking, kayaking and other outdoor adventures with a river, trails and state and national parks within arm’s reach. Please note, our dorm rooms are only available for travelers outside of a 30 mile radius of the HI Richmond hostel. Anyone residing within that radius may stay in one of our private rooms
