Nice peaceful spot out of the bustle but close to the city. About 20 miles into the historic district. Pretty lake beside the camp with swans everywhere.
This is a traditional KOA with good roads, level spots and clean bathrooms. The office is STOCKED and they will bring you fire wood (for a price) and set you up with a fire pit if you want.
They have spots on the pond - which were beautiful (thought the ones by the cabins have a partially blocked view). It was a little chilly when I was there but the showers were hot and steam rose off the pond (which is seriously filled with swans and geese) as the sun rose.
Only 40 minutes from Savannah and if you want you can set up a shuttle to pick you up and take you to Savannah. I drove in and stayed 2 nights ($14) in the Savannah Visitors Center lot (no hook ups).
There is a relatively loud road at the front of the park (typical). Nothing my noise app on my phone couldn't take care of.

In our six weeks of full timing we have hit the jackpot a second time. This is our first KOA experience and was very nice. Spots are gravel and level with some having patios. Tall thin trees with plenty of shade but not in the way for parking. Nice lake for fishing. Swimming pool well maintained as well as laundry room. There is a fenced off pet area that is very clean. Managers extremely nice and helpful with well stocked store it's rv supplies, food, souvenirs etc. Free DVD nightly rental. Have supplies for camp fire they will set up as well as s'more supplies. Picnic tables at each site. Trash pick up daily at your site.

What a nice surprise... it was our first visit to Savannah and the park provided a convenient base from which to explore Savannah. The camp hosts were so nice and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our site was newly upgraded and had a fenced-in area with fire-pit, table/chairs/umbrella, plenty of other seating and a gas grill! It's a little tricky making a left turn into the park, especially during weekly rush hours, so be patient!

There are not many options for staying in or near Savannah with your trailer/RV. If there is availability at Skidaway Island - do that. Else, you will end up like us and at the KOA. Which wasn't horrible, just wasn't our idea of camping. Most of the park is reserved for monthly rentals where everyone one ups everyone else with their patios and outdoor lighting.
The nightly/weekly rentals are kept in the front of the park where everyone drives through and where the sites are less thought out. There were some nicer sites that were on the water but we weren't offered one of these (after moving our site twice due to size and the fact that one of the sites was just in the road and just plain awful). Maybe if you ask nicely they will let you have this for some extra $$?
Our main problem was that it is farther from Savannah than it looks on a map and will take you between 25-30 minutes to get downtown. Where you will probably want to spend most of your time to get away from your life in a parking lot.
Pros:
- They bring you firewood and provide a ring! Awesome-ness!
- Store there where you can buy expensive candy and beers (aka essentials)
- Laundry on site
- Wifi was decent
- Lots of sites that can accommodate last minute reservations
- People were mainly friendly
Cons:
- FAR FROM SAVANNAH!
- Did I say parking lot?
- Expensive for what you get
- Lots of monthly renters own motorcycles... which you get to hear pass you alllll night :)
- Swans. Everywhere.

This was our first KOA, and we were happy with the experience. We travel full time and were coming from the Atlanta area on our way to Central Florida for December. My wife's family is originally from Savannah and she had never been, so we found this camp as the closest and most affordable option to visit the area. Wifi was decent; you must get a code for each internet device. Our site was 50amp FHU.
We spent most of our 2 days away from the camp visiting downtown Savannah and Tybee Island. We did not use any of the facilities, but the grounds were nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a bird sanctuary built in to the body of water in the camp, which offers some neat views of local wildlife. (see pics)

This was our second visit and even better than first. WiFi is way better and cable tv is better also. Only wish is that they all had cement patios instead of rock, or even grass. Rock hard on old feet..lol. Spaces are close but since we’re facing the same way still you feel a bit of privacy. Lots to see and do and can drive a bit to go into Savannah.
Dog park is great as well as pools, playground and picnic area. Plenty of groceries and such nearby. Lake is pretty with huge swans in lake.

I find KOAs to be very reliable. You know what you are getting: closely parked RVs with nice people and clean restrooms, laundry, pool etc. This park also has a lake with swans! Very conveniently located.

We've stayed at this KOA a few times over the last three years since it is conveniently located very close to I-95. It is clean and well maintained. Wifi is free (although we didn't connect to it on our last trip), there is cable available, a nice pool in season, and a lovely fishing lake populated with swans, egrets and herons which we enjoyed seeing on our morning walk. There is also an enclosed dog park, a small camp store, a clean bath house and laundry facility. The only downsides here are that some of the sites aren't level and our experiences with the staff haven't always been the most positive (but I do understand that we all have bad days). Also, if we were planning to explore Savannah, we would most likely look for a closer campground since this KOA is about 25 miles away.
