“The world's largest scrap metal sculptures”

The Enchanted Highway features the World's Largest Metal Sculptures produced by artist Gary Greff. Gary is a native of Regent, North Dakota. He was a teacher and a school principal and had never done any art work or welding prior to 1989. He then began dreaming of ways to bring people and businesses to the small community of Regent -- fearing the town would someday die if it relied solely on farming. A hay bale strongman built by a farmer inspired him. He watched people pull off the road to snap photos of the oddity. He wondered how many people would stop for huge metal sculptures. He began designing, welding, and painting. The Tin Family was erected in 1991, Teddy Rides Again in 1993, Pheasants on the Prairie in 1996, Grasshoppers in the Field in 1999, Geese in Flight in 2001, and Deer Crossing in 2002. He was working on Fisherman's Dream from 2003 to 2006, and it is now erected.

Took a detour to ride this highway and definitely worth it. The kids enjoyed stopping at each sculpture and some of them even had other games- one had a maze, one had cows grazing close by. If you have the time, drive by and check it out

Do this if you can!! The roadside art is incredible and the scenic drive between pieces is a bonus. If you go at the right time, one of the sculptures had giant sunflower field right next to it which was another great photo op. There is a gift shop in Regent too with your typical souvenirs but you can find the artist himself, Gary Greff, there. Such a nice guy and a truly wonderful drive/experience.

These ridiculous scrap metal sculptures make for some super weird roadside art. There's even a hotel called The Enchanted Castle, which is a themed hotel inspired by this highway attraction.

So this is fun, but like the many other comments, I agree it's far from a don't-miss tour. If you're heading in this direction anyway, then definitely do it because it's weird and neat, but it's a long drive to go out of your way for.

Would not recommend unless this is a minor detour for you. The road is long and there aren't that many sculptures. We went in the summer, so maybe in the fall there are things to do as one review wrote, but when we were there it just felt like a long road with a few cool pieces of art around it. Not worth driving out of your way for.

The farmland along the enchanted highway is way more enchanting than the sculptures ( although we did very much enjoy the artwork)

Perched along the country highway in Regent, North Dakota, are a series of metal sculptures created to bring more life to the area. Each sculpture has a kiosk with a parking lot for visitors to enjoy the artwork.

Some of the pieces include “Grasshoppers in the Field,” “Teddy Rides Again,” and “Pheasants on the Prairie.” Miniatures of each sculpture can be purchased at the gift shop in Regent.

We think this drive is one of the best things to do in North Dakota!

Worth the drive. Starts off 94 from Gladstone to Regent. The sculptures are really unique and right on the side of the road with a parking lot to pull off to for each one. There is also a knight and a dragon at the Enchanted Castle if you keep going through downtown Regent.
