Anvil's Cheesesteaks

Anvil’s Cheesesteaks is a family owned and operated business. We are not part of a chain. After growing up in an Italian family in suburban Philadelphia, Anvil went to culinary school and worked as a chef or executive chef in many restaurants across the country, including New Orleans, and San Francisco. He found that it was hard to get a good cheesesteak outside of Philadelphia. After moving to Raleigh with his wife and kids, he decided to open a small restaurant and specialize in cheesesteaks. In 2010, we opened at the south end of Jones Franklin Road in Raleigh, almost Cary. The shop has both inside and outside seating and is filled with Philadelphia art, photos, and memorabilia. The steaks are cut fresh daily, grilled with a choice of fresh vegetables, and packed into a fresh roll. We only use Boar’s Head cheese. (Sorry, no Cheez Whiz.). In addition to seven types of cheesesteaks, we also have Grilled Chicken, Garlic Roast Pork, and Portobello Mushroom sandwiches. Anvil’s offers rotating specials, including Hot Pastrami, Sicilian Sausage, and Great Grandma Rose’s Meatball. A side of Anvil’s own Italian Pasta Salad or Roasted Red Potato Salad goes great with a cheesesteak. We have ice cold beer and we even ship in Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer. We have gotten a great response in the Triangle! People come in the shop every day, saying that their friends sent them. We have been written up in the News & Observer and in Cary Magazine.
