“Quiet, adult oriented”
Point of Rocks RV Park has been family owned and operated for decades. With 96 sites, located only a few miles from downtown Prescott, we offer a great launching point for visiting the Prescott area and beyond! Less than 1 hour from Jerome, Cottonwood, Sedona, Tuzigoot, Montezuma’s Castle, and more. Our park is a rustic park located in the heart of the Granite Dells. A few minutes from Watson Lake Park, there are plenty of recreational opportunities available to visitors. There’s so much to do in the area, and there’s plenty of beauty within the park itself!

Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on September 01, 2021Over the years I've used Point of Rocks as our "base of operations." The last two years we've traveled across the country for work, and when we finished our contracts we came back to Prescott and Point of Rocks.
This is a rustic park. The Wi-Fi is only available at the office (but that will be changing soon). There's no cable, no swimming pools, etc. The park is located in the Granite Dells, an incredible set of rock formations, and that's what we stay here for!
Prescott is surrounded by forest service land. Hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, etc. This is an outdoor enthusiasts dream. While the park isn't a "Resort," it is located in one of the most amazing places I've ever seen in my travels.
They do daily and weekly rates, the staff is friendly and very informative about all there is to do. If you're looking for a great recreation launching point in Prescott, this is it!

This park is located within walking distance to Watson Lake and the Granite Dells hiking trails which was the draw for us. The sites are all nestled in among the beautiful granite boulders, a playground right outside your door. The park has dirt roads and sites which create a large amount of blowing dust making for a very dirty stay. Some sites are large with room to sit outside and some privacy. Our site was narrow with some scrub trees and our neighbors were quite close. The office personal were very friendly and helpful. The WiFi is only available at the office. Rooftop satellite dishes might have difficulty in many sites between the trees and rocks. We would stay here again only because of the location.

Having seen photos from a friend on Instagram, we decided to give this park a try even though it was privately owned. We were totally blown away with its awesomeness.
This park is definitely a campground over a resort. Dirt roads, no pool, cable, or wifi, but walk out the back of the park and you are in the Granite Dells! It is absolutely spectacular. We rock scrambled everyday, went rock climbing twice, and drove across town for some mountain biking. We also road our bikes over to Watson Lake and did some exploring there. We were too early in the season to rent kayaks, but it looked like it would be a beautiful paddle.
We kept extending our stay day by day because we didn't want to leave.
The best and biggest sites are along the back loop right up against the rocks. 56F was definitely a favorite and we will request this one next time we go!

We really enjoyed our stay in this small family owned and run RV resort. With the ability to hike or peddle right out the door and easy access to historic downtown and shopping it was a great fit. A quick scramble up the rocks and you have a beautiful view for sunrise or sunset over the lake.
The upper loop has great sites that back up against the rocks (we really liked site 58). The sites are closer together in the middle of the upper loop. The lower loop is primarily full timers and we would not stay there.
Each site has a picnic table and full hookups. Trees and rocks in the area offer shade and privacy, but do prevent tv reception.
We had no issues with Verizon or T-Mobile access.
The laundry room is good (and inexpensive). Web access is free at the library and the picnic table out back.
Office staff is very nice and accommodating. It is a small family owned resort that feels like a nice small park. We were able to receive packages with no extra charge.
Area Attractions - Several breweries (Prescott, Granite, Black Hole)
Great mountain biking (the area maps are not very detailed - so do some research ahead of time to figure out what you are getting into).
Hiking - The Granite Dells are a fun hike, Thumb Butte, The Peavine
Paddling - Watson Lake is a beautiful paddle

I loved the back up sites near the rear of the campground. This was a great campground in terms of access to Watsons Lake, the hiking trails and other sights in Prescott. You literally leave the campground near site #67 and in a few minutes you are there.
As others have noted, no WiFi except at the office.

We stayed here for 3 days in early February. Lower loop is mostly monthly/permanent guests. Upper loop probably about 1/3 monthly/ permanent. Sites are okay. Not much privacy between a lot of the sites. We were lucky and got a bigger site with good privacy. They were redoing the office when we were here. We were able to get internet access at our site ( and we were in the upper loop in back) although slow at prime times.
The best thing about this park is the proximity to Watson lake and Granite Dells. We would stay here again if we could get one of the more spacious/ private sites.

Amazing location adjacent to Watson Lake. Do the 6 mile hike around the lake!
Showers/restroom is clean, water is hot. Our spot, #48 was too close to the road (noisey) and squished in to the roadside leading to the upper loop. Several other spots were open up above, so we're not sure why us "shorties" (22 feet) get the left overs.
Had reservations for 3 nights, but we left after two.
Water hookups require a hose which we did not have since the valve was below ground level.
Good Verizon coverage at 3 bars LTE. We stayed March 22 - 23, 2016

This place was packed this time of year, as are most RV parks, as not much else is open yet. Our first site was on the outside of the loop and backed up to the rocks, which we loved. Our second site was in the center and we had RVs on 3 sides practically looking in all our windows. Sites are ver close, both side to side and back to back. The entire park is dirt so there was a lot of dust blowing around every time someone drove through. I would not want to be here when it was windy! There are a lot of trees and shrubbery, which offers some nice shade. The bathrooms are tired, but extremely clean. The laundry was also very clean. Check in was easy and half the staff were friendly and the other have perfunctory. It was very quiet here at night. We had the windows closed and did not here any road noise. Great location for visiting either of the two lakes - both of which have great nooks and crannies for exploring by kayak. Both also have fun trails to hike. The campground abuts lake Watkins and you can walk the trail to the lake. You can also do some bouldering right from the campground. I would give this one more star if they laid down some gravel.

Point of Rocks is near the town of Prescott but only a 5-minute hike from Watson Lake. So even though you can see the town from the campground, it's just a short walk to feel like you're away from it all.
The lower loop seems like it's more for long-term stays. The upper loop has more nightly campers like us. The sites are close together, but most have small trees and shrubs to create a more private atmosphere. Restrooms and showers were clean and centrally located. WiFi was spotty and slow. The road isn't far away, so you can hear cars often. Neighbors were friendly and considerate. The office staff was friendly in person. Making reservations was more of a hassle with having to place an online inquiry first and waiting for them to call you back. I prefer online reservation systems, but it's not a big operation and the staff is helpful once you get to talking to someone. The hook-ups were fine, but we had to move to move and dump at another open site on the way out; the sewer was in the back of our site and our hose wasn't long enough.
The kids loved climbing on the rocks. Our site didn't back up to them, but we'd try for one of those sites if we go back. Scrambling on the rocks is something kids would enjoy doing all day long, but we did take the kayak out onto the lake, mountain bike, and hike a portion of the Lake Loop trail. If you take the trail to the left of the launch ramp, it's about a mile to the bottom of the dam. There is a beautiful lush landscape down there! Totally unexpected among all the rough rocky terrain. All that green was a sight to see for us Arizonans, and since they were releasing water from the dam we even saw a "waterfall." :) We enjoyed our weekend, and Point of Rocks was a comfortable and convenient place to stay.
