“Hell's Half Acre”

Hell's Half Acre is a large scarp located about 40 miles (64 km) west of Casper, Wyoming on US 20/26. Encompassing 320 acres (1.3 km2), this geologic oddity is composed of deep ravines, caves, rock formations and hard-packed eroded earth. Hell's Half Acre was used as the location for the fictional planet of Klendathu in the movie Starship Troopers.

AWESOME view - quick and easy in and out right off main road. Expect to spend 1/2 hour taking it all in - too bad they put up a chain link fence.

It's worth pulling over and checking out the myriad of colors and shapes this little canyon has to offer. Keep your eyes open for rattlesnakes because my friend almost stepped on one. It's surrounded by a chain link fence, but you won't see anything like this anywhere else.

Incredibly weird and mysterious looking piece of land. There is a huge fence around it, but there is a spot you can crawl under to enjoy it better and get some good pictures! Be safe though, as the fence is up for a reason. Lots of snakes find their home here, and there are places you could accidentally fall.

Perfect stop right on/off highway. Startling “badlands” in the middle of sage scrublands. Can totally understand why Indigenous people chased animals off the cliffs.

Definitely stop if you're on your way through. It's worth that, but don't go out of your way to make a special trip here. Amazing landscape of this eerie canyon, but it's difficult to get a good view. The viewing area is essentially an overgrown lot with an 8-foot chain link all around. No restrooms. The place is worth some development, but it's not there yet.

Definitely worth the stop. I'm not advocating doing anything illegal but there is a hole in the fence...
