Situated in the historic Mississippi District, Prost! offers Portland an inviting neighborhood pub as a gathering place for friends, great bier, and authentic German food. Each bier, imported from Germany, is poured properly into its appropriate glass, fulfilling German tradition and guaranteeing great taste. Most of the pictures hanging on Prost’s walls are of Chris’s family and hometown. Longtime friends Chris and Dan partnered up in early 2009, and along with a local developer, took a dilapidated building, built in 1894 and once housing everything from a drugstore to a church, and turned it into a friendly neighborhood bier stube. Since 2009, Prost! has been giving Portland German beer, German food and an authentic German pub experience. The friendly neighborhood bier stube is housed in an 1894 building that was once home to a church, a drugstore and more, and is decorated with many photos of the co-owner’s German family and hometown. Prost! serves imported German beer served in its appropriate glassware — or a boot, if you prefer — and German munchies, like pretzels, braunschweiger, bratwurst or currywurst. You can even eat food cart food from the adjacent Mississippi Marketplace cart pod on the Prost! patio, washing it down with a refreshing weissbier, pilsner or kolsch, of course.
