International Cryptozoology Museum

The International Cryptozoology Museum is a great way to spend an afternoon. The staff here is great and Loren is a renowned Cryptozoology expert (you've probably seen him in a few documentaries). Give this place a look to see all things weird, awesome, and slightly strange.

I really liked this museum. It is split into two parts--a section devoted to evidentiary and scientific information and a section devoted to cryptozoology in pop-culture. What I enjoyed most was that there was no agenda. This is a man's personal collection, which he is sharing with the public, and the displays don't make a point to convince you either way. They present the information and evidence, and you, as the guest, make the conclusions. The models were great, and there was a ton of information, accompanying the exhibits. True, if you just want to walk through and look at stuff, it may be underwhelming, but if you participate and read each exhibit, the place really comes alive. The staff was also very nice, and introduced us to the museum, and made themselves available for any questions. They even encourage photography and sharing, so that the information can reach those who might not visit, in contrast to most places that have a strict no photography policy. In summation, this is a cool, non-profit museum focused on public education--what is not to support in that?

I don't mind at all that none of the stuff in the museum proves anything, but I still felt ripped off. About half of the exhibits are toys, movie promo material, or poorly made artistic representations. The place purports to represent scientific endeavor, but there was very little of that evident in the exhibits. It's not a bad place to kill 30 minutes on a lark, but it's kind of pricey for what it is.

This is not a wheelchair museum to visit. My husband and I stopped there last year. I was unable to go up the steps. I didn’t have to pay but…

So sad...the second floor is not wheelchair friendly. However best bathroom for a chai to get in and out of. The lady up front didn’t charge me because I couldn’t get upstairs.

Such a cool attraction. You have to be into this type of stuff to enjoy it but if this is your bag, you'll love it. We enjoyed talking with the staff and found them so knowledgeable. Great time.
