After dropping backpackers off, I did a drive through this campground.

The road there was in amazing shape as of 7/7/2020. After leaving Highway 101, it is 7 miles of paved road and then 11 miles of gravel/dirt road that is a little wider than a one lane road and follows the river. As you enter the National Park the road narrows further with occasional places to pull over for an oncoming vehicle.

There are signs saying the road is not suitable for RV’s. I’d agree. There are some narrow areas and 2 small bridge creek crossings that are very narrow. Going up we did not encounter another vehicle, coming back I did. There were 20 cars at the trailhead, so it is well traveled.

It’s an older campground with tables, fire pits and pit toilets. Some sites are very small, some sites are on the river. In July, midweek there were 7 sites occupied by tenters.

The camping rate was $20, which I think was overpriced for what you get and the time it takes to get here. If the dirt road was in bad shape, I don’t think it would be worth it for sure. I would consider camping here though if you were going to backpack out of this area on the Graves Creek Trail or The East Fork Quinault River Trail.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever stayed at. I cannot add anything to the facts given in the previous review. The road is unpaved but mostly level, just narrow in places; fine for a class B or C, but not class As or fifth wheels. It really is best as a jumping-off point for the world-class hiking trails at the end if the road, and presumably for fishing. I saw a fish that was at least 18 in long in the river this morning. Restaurants, gas, and basic supplies are all within 20 miles at the junction with 101.

Nice campground, lots of river front sites. The sites themselves are well spaced, so you aren't camping on top of each other. Beautiful drive to the campground, partially unpaved road about halfway from Quinault. Gorgeous waterfalls on the right side of the road, beautiful river views (with lots of great little swimming holes) on the left side. Flush toilets, but no potable water, so come prepared.

BRING YOUR MOSQUITO REPELLENT. That would be my number one suggestion.

With three major ecosystems and almost a million acres to choose from, Olympic National Park is filled with possibilities. Olympic National Park is a land of beauty and variety. Created in 1938 to protect the Roosevelt elk, primeval forest and wild coast, the park encompasses nearly a million acres. A few days of exploration take you from breathtaking mountain vistas with meadows of wildflowers to colorful ocean tide pools or early homestead cabins. Nestled in the valleys are some of the largest remnants of ancient forests left in the country. Trees here can tower 300 feet tall, and the forests range from the westside's lush temperate rain forest to dry, fire-shaped eastside forests. The Quinault Valley is a wilderness gateway to alpine meadows, jeweled lakes and ice-carved peaks. For shorter visits, the valley has a scenic loop drive and short trails through temperate rain forest in both Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest. Quinault is located in the southwestern area of the park, about a three-hour drive from Port Angeles and one hour from Forks,
