“Kampgrounds of America”

From apple orchards to the Big Apple, this KOA offers the best of both worlds-local farm markets, valley scenery and easy proximity to the city. Take a sightseeing tour of New York City that leaves from KOA (May-Oct.) and includes stops at the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Times Square. Your tour escort will ensure you get the most out of your trip. At KOA, you're in the heart of historic Hudson Valley. Visit West Point, Franklin D. Roosevelt's home and area wineries. Stop at Orange County Choppers and specialty shops. Then kick back at KOA where you'll find two swimming pools, a fishing pond, Jumping Pillow, basketball, mini golf, inflatable cinema, fire truck rides, fun-cycle rentals and Kamp K9. In season, enjoy free pancakes, espresso and ice cream treats at Coffee & Cream. Visit the new Grape Outdoors for regional wines and wine tastings.

We are a retired couple, so the kid-based amenities are of no value to us. After staying 4 nights in this park, we've decided to limit our use of KOA parks going forward. East Coast KOA's seem to emphasize kid-based amenities instead of the basics. Our first two nights were quiet, but the last two nights were a Friday and Saturday, and the place was crazy packed. Our "deluxe" site (R11) was at the end of a cul-de-sac, was a back-in, and was somewhat open but we were not able to lock onto all of the Dish satellites (western arc) despite being told our site was satellite friendly. The site was very tight, with our neighbors fire ring about 4 feet from the rear of our motorhome. We were thankful that our neighbor did not use it. Water pressure was average. WiFi was severely throttled after a certain level of daily MB use, so don't plan to stream a movie. Staff was friendly. Dog park was nice. Finally, and there is nothing the park management can do about this, but we did not feel comfortable around the guests at this park. We are a retired interracial gay couple, but we don't fly a rainbow flag or otherwise make ourselves conspicuous. We have camped all over the US, and have never ever felt uncomfortable until we camped at this park. Since we don't have kids, we've now realized that we should avoid KOA's going forward as they are not the best fit for us.
