“The Echo of Utopia!”
The Shaker legacy comes alive at this 750-acre history museum with 20 authentic buildings, a working farm (Round Stone Barn), and costumed interpreters. Admission to Hancock Shaker Village includes self-guided access to 750 acres of countryside, 20 historic buildings (many with costumed interpreters), the world-famous Round Stone Barn, working farm with herds of heritage-breed animals, galleries of Shaker furniture and artifacts, special exhibits, The Center for Shaker Studies, Village Store, and Village Harvest Cafe.
I'm from the area and still get something out of going to the Hancock Shaker village each time. It's historically fascinating and you can get a true insiders tour into the lives of the Shakers that lived here. Stroll through the amazingly well-maintained gardens, take a "class" at the one-room school house, hang out at the kids discovery center, or familiarize yourself with the amazing mechanical talent and building techniques that enabled the Shakers to live in harmony. From an architectural perspective, the circle-barn is a must-see and totally unique. Read more
