“A museum with character!”
The ToonSeum is a small boutique style museum dedicated to the comic and cartoon arts. While the museum itself is quite small there are on average over 100 pieces of art exhibited at any given time. Exhibits rotate every few months. It is a art museum for fans of the comic and cartoon arts. While there are often exhibits, and a limited number of activities for children it is not a children's museum. Like any art museum very young children may be a bit bored by looking at art on the walls. However the ToonSeum is a great introduction to an art museum setting by introducing them to the arts through characters they know and love. We often have family events, but it is best to call ahead or check our site for schedules. The ToonSeum is an independent non-profit museum. We are 90 percent volunteer run. We are one of the very few completely independent arts venues in downtown Pittsburgh and one of only a handful of cartoon oriented museums in all of the United States. We are a museum for those who love comics and cartoons.
Awesome little hole in the wall! A recommended stop for comic art fans. The two exhibits onsite during our visit included Captain America: 75 Years of the Sentinel of Liberty and This Campaign is Yuuuge! (A fun look into cartoons this political season.). Support the small and mighty! Stop by! The interaction with staff is part of the fun.
