“a romantic Alabama lodge”
The instant allure of Gorham's Bluff is obvious: the view is spectacular. Hundreds of feet below, the mighty Tennessee River cuts a wide green valley through the landscape. Birds of prey circle over Coon Gulf, a smooth body of water brought about when the Tennessee Valley Authority dammed the river in the 1930s. It is almost impossible to stand at the edge, take everything in-the sheer scope and mass and immensity of it all-and not be dazzled. And it is easy to ascribe that feeling to sheer, raw natural beauty. But that is just a fraction of what makes Gorham's Bluff so compelling. Whatever draws you to Gorham's Bluff-the power of our native landscape, our vision as a community of connections, our architecture, our commitment to the arts, or our celebration and nourishment of discovery, exploration and creativity-we invite you to join us in shaping the future of this town. Your participation, combined with the substantial thought that has already gone into crafting this extraordinary community, will make Gorham's Bluff a special place for generations to come.
If the height alone doesn't do it, the view from the bluff-top gazebo overlooking a sheer drop into the Tennessee River Valley will literally take your breath away. Vintage yearbooks and board games in the downstairs sitting room and jazz-packed local radio stations are more fun than in-room TVs could ever be.
It's a dry county, so pack accordingly. http://fathomaway.com/postcards/romance/most-romantic-hotels-us-south/
