“Enjoy BBQ under the stars”
The legendary Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace has been delighting locals and travelers alike since 1982, with its mesquite barbeque, live music, dancing and friendly service. There is also a long history here. In 1946, Pioneertown was founded by a group of Hollywood investors with dreams of creating a living movie set -- an 1870's frontier town with facades for filming and interiors open to the public.
This place is the bomb. It's literally in an old movie set, and there's always an awesome and interesting crowd. They have tons of food, but not tons of drink options, but it's not exactly a "fancy" place, so don't be surprised. Be careful leaving though...the roads to get here are windy and there can be cops.
Great venue to see a band or have some meat. They also have a large outdoor area with lots of picnic tables. Fun place to see a show. Also you can book a room at the Pioneertown Motel right next door and walk over for the night.
Pappy and Harriet's is not to be missed if you are in the area. It's laid back, cool and great fun. The crowd is diverse and provides great people watching. We had a 2 hour wait for a table but it was worth it. The drive from Joshua tree to there is great and on a warm spring evening at sundown where else would you want to be.
Camped in Joshua Tree and came here for dinner and drinks.
Such a great vibe and the food was delicious! There was good live music and a guy on the bongos killing it!
Classic American bar with so much charm 10/10
