Nestled in tall pines and silhouetted by the Blue Ridge Mountains,Chinquapin Inn is a cozy and hospitable bed and breakfast located just down the quiet hillside road from Penland School of Crafts, one of America's oldest craft schools. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only a short drive away, and the surrounding area is rich in hiking trails, artists' studios and craft galleries. Your hosts are Bill and Sue Ford. Bill, a lifelong resident of the area who has also traveled widely to Europe and the Middle East, is a former school teacher and historian of Penland School. His family has ties going back to the founding of the school. His grandmother, Adeline Willis was the first Penland Weaver. Sue, an avid antiques collector and former art teacher, is a creative cook who expertly directs guests to the area's many attractions.
