“Walk the path of the eagle”
A glass bridge is suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River on the very edge of the Grand Canyon. The Skywalk, managed by the Hualapai Tribe and located on tribal lands, consists of a horseshoe shaped steel frame with glass floor and sides that projects about 70 feet (21 m) from the canyon rim. While the Skywalk is the most famous attraction at Grand Canyon West, tours also include other points of interest and unique canyon views. The Hualapai (WALL-uh-pie), the "People of the Tall Pines," have lived in the Southwest for untold generations. Traditionally their homelands stretched from Grand Canyon to the Bill Williams River in west-central Arizona and from the Black Mountains bordering the Colorado River to the San Francisco Peaks. Primarily nomadic hunter-gathers, they also traded with nearby tribes. The Hualapai Reservation of just less than 1,000,000 acres was established in 1883. Today the tribe counts about 2,300 members. Peach Springs on Highway 66 is the tribal headquarters. The tribe operates a hotel, restaurant, and gift shop in Peach Springs. While limited ranching, timber harvest, and guided hunts provide some income, the tourist industry offers the best opportunity for employment of tribal members.
I gotta say RIP-OFF. 75 bucks. No cameras. No thanks. Drove there, saw the vultures (the locals) circling, decided to save money and drove home.
There is best kept secret and I want to share it about 5 minutes from the canyon west side on mile market 12 off diamond bar road. Is a great and very good prices cabins and camping tee pees it called the Grand Canyon Camp grounds just opening and do not confuse it with the Grand Canyon resort ( which is very Ex pensive)
Why not just pay it if you're supporting the Hualapai Tribe and also their employment? To not show support to Native Americans as in some of the comments below is just plain ignorant.
Way to expensive. I did it but I will never pay that price again
Expensive, and I was ready to pay the price, until I was told I couldn't bring my camera onto the walk. Well, no thanks then. You kids have fun.
And now there's a push to build a HUGE freakin' tourist city on the west rim of the canyon. It's going to destroy the night skies out there.
Jesus Christ, I should have read the reviews first. Horribly expensive and we can’t take pictures on the skywalk. Also, you can’t take sunglasses, so even the “professional” photos they take of you are horrible and everyone is squinty and looking miserable. The views are beautiful, but so are the free views on the other side of the canyon.
Total waste of money. I feel had.
The sky walk is just a grab for tourist money. It was packed and because you can't take your camera your stuck trying to get around the official photographers and there was plenty of them.
$65 for entry then $16 for each photo is rich but the bus network is good we didn't have to wait. You can get great photos without the sky walk and the thrid bus stop area is the best for pic's
Super cool, but beware it's very expensive. I think it was about $70
Yes, it is expensive, but it is a really unique experience. Yes, the views are still beautiful everywhere else, but there is absolutely nothing like looking at the canyon below you from an amazing modern engineering feat. I really enjoyed my experience here and thought it was so fun! It is a bummer you can't take your own photos, but that's probably a safety thing.
When I was planning my trip to the Grand Canyon I wanted to do this but after looking at prices decided against it. I am so glad I did.
I saw the glass bridge and it really didn't look all the impressive for being so over priced. You don't need to stand on a bridge to appreciate this beautiful landscape.
