“a long-standing Phoenix tradition”
Dining on the patio at El Chorro along with its famed sticky-buns is a long-standing Phoenix tradition. El Chorro was originally built in 1934 as the Judson School for Girls and in 1937 it was converted to a restaurant and lodge. Clark Gable, John Wayne, Barry Goldwater and other prominent figures visited the Lodge in its early days. Guests of the nearby Camelback Inn frequently followed the special desert path between the two establishments to enjoy El Chorro’s noted Classroom Bar. El Chorro’s iconic setting at the base of Camelback & Mummy Mountains offers an authentic Arizona desert setting where generations of Valley residents and visitors alike come to savor fresh, seasonal cuisuine; enjoy a relaxed Sunday brunch; gather with friends over happy hour; celebrate special occasions or meet with associates. To honor the Arizona destination dining heritage, El Chorro’s culinary vision features classic cuisine favorites with a Southwestern-inspired influence. The menu offerings center on fresh, organic and locally grown ingredients – including herbs and produce from the El Chorro garden located right outside the kitchen.
