“Flagler's Gilded Age estate”
Completed in 1902; Whitehall; Henry Flagler's Gilded Age estate in Palm Beach; was hailed as "more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world." Today; Whitehall; a National Historic Landmark; is open to the public as the Flagler Museum. The Museum features guided tours; Flagler's private railcar; permanent and changing exhibits and special programs; such as lectures; concerts and holiday events. Café des Beaux-Arts serves a Gilded Age Tea from Thanksgiving to Easter. Families may tour Whitehall with an Activity Guide for Kids and then enjoy family-friendly activities in the Flagler Kenan Pavilion. Activities include creating a family tree; creating a scrapbook page to commemorate the day; being interviewed by your grandchild; writing a postcard to send to your family and having a family photo taken in front of Railcar No. 91.
Built in 1902, the Gilded Age mansion that is now a museum was once heralded as rivaling European palaces. It was considered one of the most beautiful and opulent private homes in America. Today it's a National Historic Landmark that offers guided tours.
