“founded on the campus of Miami University”
The Beta Theta Pi fraternity was founded on the campus of Miami University, in Oxford, in 1839. The Beta Theta Pi Fraternity Museum was dedicated on Nov. 10, 2007 and features a comprehensive history of the fraternity's founding, the history, and lore of one of the nation's oldest and largest fraternities. The museum displays original photos, documents, and artifacts organized into themes such as athletics, recruitment, scholarships, and service. The Museum even holds copies and commentary of the original July 4, 1839 handwritten constitution that was authorized by founder Samuel Taylor Marshall. The "Alpha during wartime" theme of paraphernalia showcases the involvement of the fraternity members during the Civil War, as well as the Vietnam War.
Beautiful pond and landscapes grounds. Not known to many outside the Beta fraternity. Nice spot for beautiful fall pictures. Although private property the fraternity is unlikely to complain if you go to relax a bit on a bench by the pond.
