The Ontonagon Ranger District is the northernmost district of the six districts on the Ottawa National Forest. The district also administers the Bergland Ranger District land base. Most of the acreage is located in Ontonagon County, but we do reach into the eastern end of Gogebic County and the western end of Baraga and Houghton Counties. Ontonagon is the location of the district office. There are numerous outdoor recreational opportunities. Hunting, fishing, swimming, hiking, boating, and ATV riding are available in the summer and fall months. In the winter downhill, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are available.
