Oneida Community Mansion House

The Mansion House is an incredible 93,000 square foot National Historic Landmark that was once home to America's most successful Utopian Commune, the Oneida Community (1848-1880). Today, the space includes a museum, overnight lodging, meeting space, facility rentals, and hiking trails. We are also designated as a Bike-Friendly NY business. The Mansion House was constructed as communal living for over 200 people. Museum exhibits and programs describe how their community developed and evolved, and how the challenges they faced resonate in our world today. Museum collections include many pieces from the Utopian group and Oneida, Ltd., the silverware company that was the outgrowth of the Community. The Mansion House is open daily throughout the year Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. Visitors can enjoy exhibits and period rooms during those hours. Popular programs include guided tours of the Mansion House, the Behind the Scenes tour, the Séances and Spiritualism program, and the industry tour, a collaborative program with Sherrill Manufacturing’s Liberty Tabletop flatware. The Mansion House offers overnight lodging in seven spacious, inviting guest rooms, located on the first floor and our John Humphrey Noyes suite, located on the third floor. All overnight stays include Museum Admission and breakfast vouchers to Greenhouse Brew Coffee Shop, located in the “Silver City” of Sherrill, a short walk, bike ride, or quick drive from the Mansion House. After a round of golf at the Oneida Community Golf Course, enjoy lunch or dinner at the Course’s Lakeview Restaurant. The course and restaurant are within walking distance of the Mansion House.
