Cornerstone Mansion

The Cornerstone Mansion is owned and operated by Mark J. O'Leary and Julie K. Mierau. Mark purchased the mansion in 2000 and operated it until 2001 when Julie came aboard. Mark works as a freelance photographer and for the John Beasley Theater & Workshop, where he does everything from dressing and propping sets to running sound to acting in productions. Julie also works freelance as a writer and serves on the John Beasley Theater board of directors and on the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association board. We strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The inn has undergone many renovations since we acquired the property, from the floors to the ceilings to the electrical to the plumbing. As we try to capture the feel of yesteryear, we strive to have all the amenities today's traveler has come to expect. The inn was purchased from Paul and Janet Koenig who owned and operated the inn with their two daughters from 1996-2000. Paul and Janet are both teachers, Janet teaches elementary school and Paul teaches music. He is now the Music Director for Dundee Presbyterian Church here in Omaha.The Koenigs bought the inn from Jeanne Swoboda. Jeanne is the person responsible for the conception and transformation of this historic home into a bed & breakfast. After raising her family in the home she decided to take on the huge task. The inn was originally called the Offutt House. We changed the name because of confusion about our location. We are 15 miles from Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue. The Cornerstone is Omaha's only Bed & Breakfast or Historic Inn. The inn is still operating and prospering 20+ years later!
