Critically acclaimed Executive Chef and Owner, Tamearra Dyson, was born into a long tradition of excellent Louisiana cooks, spanning nearly seven decades. Her mother became convinced of the benefits of a meatless diet and raised Tamearra and her siblings with little to no meat. Although her mother prepared health conscious food for her children, Tamearra’s grandfather insisted on the Southern style food he grew up on. Tamearra watched her mother prepare two kinds of meals a day, one that was healthy and another that was rife with saturated animal fats, cholesterol, and butter. Inspired to conquer the fear that food cannot be both healthy and delicious, Chef Dyson began to passionately create her signature dishes. Now a favorite among vegans and carnivores alike, she has proven that healthful eating can coexist in harmony with the flavors and depth of soul-inspired food. In 2006 she created Souley Vegan, a place where you can truly experience soul in the community that gathers there, soul in the hospitality of the staff, and soul in the food made from the heart.
