North Wilkesboro Speedway opened in 1947 hosting 50 years of NASCAR racing. It's last NASCAR Cup Race was in 1996 with Jeff Gordon winning. The track is making a comeback thanks to the Save the Speedway movement and a grant from the state of North Carolina. North Wilkesboro Speedway will reopen in 2022 with a combination of asphalt and dirt racing prior to a major renovation for the next era of the track starting in 2023
This place is fun. The history is incredible and the story of the revival is awesome. Netflix...we need a documentary on this. It's not clean, nice, or classy and I appreciated that. It's genuine.... Read more
