Located an easy drive north of the historic town of North Platte. Wild Bill tried to settle here and built a beautiful home within view of the C/G located on a branch of the Platte river. Nice sites with elec. Quiet here on the edge of town altho you do get some fishermen here.

North Platte was a train stop for WWII troop movements across the country. Twice a day the train stopped and troops were let off for about 15 minuets. In 1941 thru 1945 local ladies made it a poit to meet each train, no matter the weather or time of day and great the men with fresh hot coffee, homemade treats of sandwiches, pie, baked goods and conversation. The didn't miss a train in all that time. Women organized themselves and sought volunteers from a 100 mile radius to "greet the boys."

WWII was a big moment in the life of this town. Out near the Interstate they have erected a large and impressive memorial to all those who served then. Fittingly, they didn't forget the women who gave so much of themselves so the troops would have a touch of home before they shipped off. They gave their time, nostalgic thoughts and to no small expression of thanks, their sugar and meat rations. They were all heroes! Thank you ladies of North Platteā€¦ You were angels.

Basic campground in North Platte, NE. Electric only sites with no water or dump station on site. Well, there is water, but only at a couple of sites and when I was there, the rigs at those sites had water hoses hooked up to them. So, essentially, there was no water for me. Which is why one always carries a bit of water in the tank, right? ;)

I was passing through on the way from Loveland, CO to Lincoln, NE, so this was a nice midway point.

If you are into trains, North Platte has Bailey Yard, which is the world's largest railway switching (classification) yard. Owned by Union Pacific, there is an observation tower that you have to pay to enter. I like trains, but wasn't in the mood to spend money to see a bunch of track. Plus the clock was ticking!

A very basic but quiet state park. Electric only sites. We did not take on water so have no idea how difficult this would be. Others have stated that access to the potable water is inconvenient. There is no dump station on site. The sites are close together but significantly angled so that you don't get the sense of being on top of your neighbor.

This is a good overnight place to stop when traveling on I-80.

Verizon cell and internet service were OK. Was able to stream video.

Daily fee quoted includes a $5.00 per day fee for your vehicle.

We ended up here because the very inexpensive Cody Park was closed. Here you pay for camping plus the day use fee which is $8 for out of towners. The campground is pretty cut and dry but it is nice and well maintained. Itā€™ll do in a pinch but it seems overpriced at the $22 it cost us. There is electric but no water or sewer and no dump on site.

I wanted to visit the Historical Museum and Buffalo Bills vacation home on my way West. Other than a train whistle in the distance, It was a quiet place to stay. Vault toilets, no Dump! The nearest RV dump I found was 5 miles away at a gas station. No water at the site and the water available was either in someone's site or down by the restroom. If you're connecting to RV you'll need 50-75 feet of hose unless you get one of the three or four sites that have a hydrant close. The sites do have 50 Amp electric.

The $22 dollar fee included an $8 non-resident day fee (each day), something I find unfriendly in Colorado and Nebraska. I would rather just know it's $22 and pay it. If they want to give a discount to residents then do it at the end like Montana does. I know it's semantics but leaves a bad feeling for me.

This is a nice little park right next to the north Platte River. I just believe it's a bit pricy. $25 for the site then $6 for Nebraskans or $8 for out of staters for the park pass

A washboard gravel road less than a mile long leads to the small campground. Six of the sites have 50 amp and we arrived on a Friday right after lunch to grab one of those because it was 103 degrees outside. No dump and only about 4 sites are close to a water spigot. Gravel sites are pretty level. Small trees so clear skies for satellite. Locals arrive early on Friday to grab sites that are close to spigots. Price does not include Neb park user fee.Ā

Not bad for a stop over. 0.7mile washboard dirt road to the campground loop. Hardly any trees. Expensive for non-residents. $25 for electric plus $12 for park fee. No Sr. discount. Very quiet. Most sites are gravel and reasonably level. 14 antenna channels and 5bars verizon. Not much to do here.
