“1.6 million acre park”

03-07-2023 ALERTS IN EFFECT (NPS): Mojave Road CLOSED across Soda Lake, Detour Available -- Muddy and Wet conditions from recent storms have made the fragile environment of soda Lake impassible. Do not cross Soda Lake. Violators could be financially responsible for restoration costs. Detour via Rasor Rd, I-15, Cima Rd, & Aiken Mine Rd. Mojave National Preserve is located in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California, USA, between Interstate 15 and Interstate 40. The preserve was established October 31, 1994 with the passage of the California Desert Protection Act by the US Congress. Previously, it was the East Mojave National Scenic Area, under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management. Singing sand dunes, volcanic cinder cones, Joshua tree forests, and carpets of wildflowers are all found at this 1.6 million acre park. A visit to its canyons, mountains and mesas will reveal long-abandoned mines, homesteads, and rock-walled military outposts. Located between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Mojave provides serenity and solitude from major metropolitan areas.

What a different walk this was. Mojave Natural Preserve seems fantastic as it differs from all the similar nature walks.

Cactus trees and dry sandy earth are the highlights of the area but the views of wherever you stand are just fantastic.

The simplicity of the place and the serenity it offers, will blow your mind.

Take your cameras with you and capture the quiet within those scenic backgrounds..

Amazing. I’m from NY and have been to Vegas a dozen times but never have I seen such beauty. Worth the trip. No cell reception.

Stark, yet beautiful. The visitor center is an old train station and is easily the coolest VC I've been to.
