The history of Jasper County is depicted by a 40-foot bas relief mural. Exhibits include washing machine display; Maytag memorabilia; displays from four Newton-based companies; 150-million-year-old dinosaur tracks; agricultural display; and 1875 barn. See Victorian and 1930s-era homes; country store; church; school; antique furniture store and post office. Working blacksmith shop open by arrangement. New World War II sculpture.
Our Family really enjoyed this museum. It was our first stop on our road trip. The lady who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. We arrived at 4pm. We enjoyed all the exhibitions, but my favorite was the Victorian 1900s lifestyle housing...
