Chateau Niagara Winery is owned by Jim and Kathy Baker. We have as part of our mission to create a winery where we produce premium vinifera estate wines in a warm friendly atmosphere, promoting the Niagara fruit region and providing education in wine and food for our customers. In June of 2006 we purchased 31 acres of high quality farmland in the Niagara fruit belt region, located in Newfane, NY. We immediately planted our white wine grapes. We were not able to get our red wine grapes until the following year when they were planted.This oddessey began some 27 years ago when we were dating. Kathy is from the Chatauqua region and we would visit the wineries there for a date. We loved the ambience and lifestyle of the winery and decided that it represented a pretty attractive way of life. Four children and decades later, we decided to take the plunge. After researching several potential site locations thoroughly we decided that the Ontario Lake Plain fruit belt was our choice.
