“All dried up”
Though abandoned, this place is on private property and trespassing is neither condoned nor tolerated. Please, use common sense. The Rock-A-Hoola Waterpark is located on Lake Dolores, at Newberry Springs, east of Barstow on Interstate 15. It was originally built in the 1950s as a private resort. In 1962 it opened to the public, eventually closing in the late ’80s. This site if on private property, under new ownership, with plans to reopen. There are reports of a 'friendly security guard' living on-site.
It closed because a lawsuit left the park high and dry, no pun intended :P An employee went on a water slide when it was undergoing maintenance (the water was shut off) he busted himself up at... Read more
Even though this waterpark is abandoned. I'm still giving them 5 stars because I love graffiti art. Definitely a must stop on the way to Vegas if you enjoy exploring abandoned buildings. Probably... Read more
I found out about lake Dolores when I saw a YouTube video of Patrick Watson called Adventures in your back yard and was wondering where that was and when I found out it's here I decided to save... Read more
There is a bump pretty high on the road up. I was nervous getting my car over it but fortunately there was an open gate on the other side of the park so I had no problems finding a way in. No signs or anything saying otherwise. Fantastic spot to explore! I detoured traveling from Palm Springs to Vegas and it was perfect. Read more

Great if you do urbex/desex. One of the best photo ops in the desert southwest. It is private property, so enter at your own risk. Luckily I never encountered anybody driving a pickup or a jeep that looked nasty, while I was there. Read more
We visited the park this weekend and a man drove up in a jeep that looked to be made of stolen parts from a pick-a-part. He was yelling at me and my husband before he even stopped the jeep. Once he turned off his weird elevator music he started yelling that we needed to leave his park immediately. We asked who he was and he stated that he was the sole owner of the park and that his name was Ohm Wheeler. He went on to say that he spent 15 million to purchase the park after selling his casino. He was obviously lying. We asked if we could just take pictures and he replied that it would cost us $400. This was too much so we started to walk away from this man who seemed somewhat retarded. Our son who was 20 at the time got out of the car and walked up to us. When our son walked up I could tell the duck faced guy in the jeep must be homosexual. He kept winking at my son and then said we could stay if our son wanted a tour of the park in his jeep. He said he would show our son the well and pump next to his house. My son replied "no I'm not interested". He then offered him some vodka and I stepped in and told him our son was only 20. He backed off a little and said "sorry I didn't mean to get momma bear upset" We decided to leave as the situation was getting weird. We walked away as he started yelling at his dog to get back inside the jeep. This was a disappointment, maybe we will return next year if the duck faced man will be gone. Read more

One of the coolest things I have seen! If you're driving between LA and Vegas, it's about half way and a must-see. I had zero problems "trespassing", as there were no signs and you can walk in. If you're into urban exploring, this is a crown jewel Read more
