“giving coffee the cocktail treatment”
Going to a bar during daylight might seem a depressing idea, but popular nightspot The Randolph is one of the coziest places for a cup of coffee on the Lower East Side. While French press is available, the emphasis is on giving coffee the cocktail treatment - minus the booze. This translates into a menu of sweet, frothy, coffee-based drinks made with fine ingredients and unique flavor combinations, all available hot or iced. You can order your drink to go, but these coffees are designed to be sipped at the bar, as many involve a theatrical presentation. Coffee snobs may scoff at the lack of espresso here, but they certainly won't at the extensive list of roasters that supply the beans. If you're interested in mixing business with pleasure, peruse the extensive list of coffee-infused cocktails, or wait until 5pm, when the The Randolph turns back into a classic New York bar.
