Ninth Avenue transforms itself into a major foodie haven for the International Food Festival. Including vendors from all over New York City, including some from popular Ninth Avenue and Hell's Kitchen restaurants, the food festival shuts down traffic as it lines the sidewalks and pavement between 42nd and 57th street. From snacks, to full meals, to desserts and drinks, cuisine options range in type, flavor, and ethnicity, offering one of New York's most diverse tasting menus. While much of it is standard street food, it's delicious, and crowds come out in droves to enjoy a nice walk in the energetic atmosphere, as well as the neat prices at all the lively and varied stalls. Held over one weekend in May, the Food Festival also include live musical performances, and visitors are offered samples and coupons at some of the stalls.
