“Rumored to be The House of the Rising Sun”

The NOLA Art House is an 1870s Creole mansion-turned-artist colony known for its backyard playland. Rumored to be the famous "House of the Rising Sun' it is now home to artists known as the NOLA Art House. Founded in 2005 to offer affordable housing to local artists the property is divided into multiple private rooms that double as work space.

The 5,943-square-foot space on Esplanade Avenue in Tremé is split up into about 17 private rooms with two kitchens and five bathrooms. The property was bought from the bank in February 2005 for $194,900.

The treehouse installation is the brainchild of Scott Pterodactyl. The multi-tiered treehouse features a rope bridge to a separate, smaller treehouse, a waterslide and wastebaskets. The height of the fourth and fifth levels offer a view of downtown and the surrounding area.
