Voted "one of the best bars in Louisiana" by Esquire Magazine, the Chart Room is a dark and simple dive bar known for its strong pours and no-frills approach. If the Chart Room were in Piscataway or Petaluma, it would be merely a solid local bar: lots of regulars, kindness to strangers, cheap drinks, quiet but not dead, the kind of bar in which you could kill an afternoon or close out an evening with no strain whatsoever. But since it's on the corner of Chartres and Bienville, right in the heart of the Quarter, it's a de facto oasis of sanity.
