New Orleans was first the capital of opera in America, it witnessed the creation of jazz, and it served as an incubator for early rock n' roll. The city has many stories of music. On our walking tour we will present the most important ones from genres like Jazz, Funk, R&B, Rock, Gospel, Brass, Classical, and Soul. Some of our tales are uplifting and some heartbreaking, but they all share a common quality: they testify to our trailblazing artistic spirit and our unique nature as a people.Our tour guide Jason Songe has written over 1,000 concert reviews since 2003. As a concert promoter he has also booked over 1,000 concerts in New Orleans since 2004. Jason has lived in New Orleans his whole life, and his family has lived in Louisiana since 1780.
