“The life of the man in black”

Back in the day, fans would flock to the “House of Cash,” outside Nashville to tour Johnny Cash’s museum, but this mecca to the Man in Black closed for good in the early 2000s (You may remember it being featured in his “Hurt” music video), and the end result was fans had no real place to pay homage to Johnny Cash; no where to celebrate his life… that was until The Johnny Cash Museum opened right in the heart of Nashville. As founder Shannon Miller told the Tennessean, it just didn’t seem right to not have a museum completely dedicated to one of country music’s biggest legends. Miller remarked, “Elvis has Graceland, but there was really nothing left anymore for us.” Well, today, the Millers have created just such a place. Located right in the heart of downtown Nashville within walking distance to the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, Tootsie's World Famous Orchid Lounge, and all the other Nashville hotspots, the Johnny Cash Museum has become a tourist attraction all its own. One of only 6 Nashville attractions to earn the AAA “Gem” rating, the Johnny Cash Museum has the biggest and most complete collection of Johnny Cash items in the world. Visitors get a 3-dimensional walk-through of the legend’s life through interactive exhibits, boatloads of memorabilia, stage costumes, guitars and other instruments, and other items from his family and many big-star friends. In attendance on the VIP Opening Night, former Vice President and Tennessean Al Gore even had some flattering remarks for the Johnny Cash Museum: I’ve seen a lot of museums around the world.  A world class collection of items that tells the story of Cash’s life.  I was blown away by how well it is put together. It’s first class and you will see, you can mark my words, this will become one of the major tourist attractions for Nashville. Well, looks like he was right… The Johnny Cash Museum is now one of the staples of a music-lover’s trip to Nashville. Open 7 days a week, admission will set you back $16, but it’s well-worth it for anyone who wants to explore the legendary life of Johnny Cash. There's also a pretty sweet gift shop on site for all your Man in Black swag needs... -Roadtrippers Officially authorized by the Estate of Johnny Cash, the museum features the largest and most comprehensive collection of Johnny Cash artifacts and memorabilia in the world. State of the art exhibits, a museum gift store and special events make this THE Cash venue to visit. Open now in the heart of downtown Nashville.

Worth it! I thought it would be a little touristy trap type of thing, but I was pleasantly surprised how well done this museum is. It was not horribly crowded and the price is right. It was so... Read more
