Madewood Plantation House

Known as the Queen of the Bayou, Madewood is a Greek Revival Mansion - a National Historic Landmark - set among oak trees on 20 acres facing Bayou Lafourche in Napoleonville. Come and join us at a Louisiana house party!Settle into one of five overnight guest rooms, all with canopied beds, in the mansion or three in Charlet House, a pet-friendly, raised cottage across the patio. Charlet House also has a honeymoon suite with a canopied king bed, working fireplace, whirplool tub and private porch.Whatever room you choose, accommodations include a wine and cheese hour hosted byowner Keith Marshall or one of the staff, before guests are escorted to the large oak dining table for a candlelight dinner of Southern specialties. Afterwards, there's coffee and brandy served with conversation in the parlor. In the morning, we serve Louisiana coffee (or tea, if you must) and a full breakfast, almost always with fluffy biscuits and often with cheese grits (sublime!).Madewood is not open for drop-in tours (although groups can book lunch and tours, and join overnight guests for dinner). So guests can linger in their rooms most days or read on the front and bach porches overlooking oak trees.. It's a whole world away just an hour and 10 minutes northwest of New Orleans International Airport, 90 minutes from Uptown New Orleans, and 45 minutes from Baton Rouge.
