“Fine wines, attractive tasting rooms, & warm hospitality”
Sterling Vineyards offers fine wines, attractive tasting rooms, and warm hospitality, as well as an innovative, self-paced tour. There are no tight schedules—just a leisurely, pleasurable experience that includes the compelling southern vistas off Sterling View Terrace, and, in winter months, the warmth of a huge fieldstone fireplace in the main tasting room. VIEWS FROM THE TRAM Our aerial tram is the only one of its kind in Napa Valley, offering stunning views as visitors ride up to the winery. You are greeted with a glass of wine to enjoy while you stroll through art galleries, overlooks, and elevated walkways that allow guests to follow the winemaking process from grape to glass. Along the way, motion-activated flat-screen televisions provide detailed explanations. This arrangement lets guests tour the winery at their own pace. TASTING AND TOUR EXPERIENCES Sterling Silver Experience: $37 The ultimate Sterling Vineyards visit. Enjoy the aerial tram, self-guided tour of the winery and scenic views from our terraces followed by a seated wine tasting experience featuring single vineyard and limited release wines in one of our exclusive Tasting Rooms. The Silver Experience includes special access to the upper level of the winery where you can view exhibits from the Sterling Art Collection including Picasso, Chagall, Frasconi, and the Ansel Adams photographic essay “The Story of a Winery”. General Admission: $28 Visitor fee includes the aerial tram, self-guided tour of the lower portion of the winery, scenic views from our terraces, and a tasting of current release wines.

I always advise friends not to try to visit too many wineries because it's easy to get burnt out. If you'll only see a few, Sterling is a great choice for a winery visit. (Nostalgia alert: This is where my high school prom was held.) It's an all-white building perched on a mountaintop and the only way up is in a gondola. Once you disembark, you are immediately handed a glass of wine. (Not back in high school.) Sniff, Swirl, Repeat. Read more
The absolute coolest part of this place is that you can only get to the tasting room via aerial tram. If you don't like heights, be warned-- but it's a breathtaking view. Grab a cheeseboard to go with your wine tasting and make an afternoon of your trip here! Read more
