The Scolnik House of the Depression Era is a site of the Lakeshore Museum Center. The light touch house museum tells the story of common families living during the Great Depression. Visitors will see period furnishings and floor and wall coverings and can listen to old-time radio shows and a party-line telephone conversation. The two story home was built in the late 1880s in classic Queen Anne-Inspired Folk Victorian style and is within walking distance from the Museum's other sites in Muskegon. The Scolnik House is open for public tours Thursday through Monday from 10 am to 4 pm and on Sundays from 1 to 4 pm. The site is open from May through October and there is no admission charge.
