“The scariest haunted location you've never heard of!”
This place is on private property. Listing for informational purposes only. Please do not visit without express permission from the land owner. Buck Hill Falls is a massive, 400+ room resort community in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. After it's closure in 1991, the property has sat abandoned. According to paranormal investigators, the Inn is the site of numerous violent hauntings stemming from a large number of mysterious deaths on the premises, five of which occurred in one room: room 354. It was said that after a maid slit her wrists in room 354, an exorcism had to arranged in order to rid the hotel of a poltergeist known for slamming doors, breaking glass, and cutting the power. The exorcism proved unsuccessful. Some have seen the ghost of a soldier aimlessly wandering the 3rd floor of the hotel, scaring guests when they noticed the gaping hole in his chest - a wound apparently the result of a musket ball. Psychics agree that the activity on the property is only enhanced by it's geographic positioning, the hotel having been built upon ley lines known for increasing paranormal activity. The property has recently been purchased and is looking for investors interested in returning the site to it's former glory, ghosts be damned. The settlement was founded in 1901 as a Quaker retreat by a group of Friends from Philadelphia, including Charles F. Jenkins who became and remained the president of the Buck Hill Falls Company until his death in 1951. The Inn at Buck Hill Falls, originally a small wooden hostelry, expanded ultimately to a large new stone building in 1926 and enjoyed popularity into the 1970s and 1980s. By the time of its closure, the Inn boasted over 400 guest rooms along with numerous resort amenities, including an indoor swimming pool with a retractable glass roof, elegant and formal lobby spaces, and a white linen dining room where guests were feted with fine food while occasionally enjoying live harpsichord music. Another major feature of the Inn was the north porch, a huge covered stone structure with exceptional views of the surrounding Pocono mountains. Guests could take afternoon tea and relax in rocking chairs looking out over the mountains. However, changes in ownership, financial troubles, and several fires led to the closing of the Inn in the early 1990s. Although there was no single cause of the Inn's failure, the decline in the costs of air travel, allowing vacationers from New York and Philadelphia to avoid the long drive into the Poconos was certainly a major factor in its demise.
As of 2017 this place is demolished http://wnep.com/2017/01/19/buck-hill-inn-demolition-underway/
