“all sites have full-hook ups”
Come join us and watch the beautiful sunset on the Blue Ridge Mountains! All of our sites have full hook ups (water and sewer), 50/30/20 Amp electrical, Cable TV hook ups, and WiFi We also have two catch and release fishing ponds that are over forty years old. We are located at the homeplace of the descendants of Eng and Chang Bunker, the Siamese Twins. Enjoy a peaceful stroll on our walking trail that leads to the White Plains Church, where Eng and Chang Bunker are buried. We have a bathhouse on site and a laundry facility. We have also added playground areas for the children.

Great place to stay for a nite or a week
We discovered this campground using Passport America ($16/night for 2 nights and $32 for Good Sam the next night). It seems to now be in our regular routes as we try to explore the southeast. We stayed twice in 2014 and then tried to get back in 2015. Finally, we made it back and had hoped to stay a week. But we had to meet up with friends down the road, so back to just three nights. We loved going downtown where they have modeled much of it after the Andy Griffith Show's Mayberry....but of course, Andy Griffith modeled Mayberry after his home town, Mt. Airy!
ARRIVAL: This was why we come back. The checkin is so wonderful, met with cheery smiles and they will do all they can to help you pick the best sit.
TIPS TO MAKE IT BETTER: They had new WIFI, but we couldn't get it to work in our camper. They could suggest dog owners to please keep them quiet! They are so kind and accommodating (and have a dog themselves, who never barks BTW), they don't have the rules and regs like many campgrounds about not letting them bark. We actually changed sites because we parked next to one who loved to let us know he was in charge of his camper!
FAVORITE THING: For us, we love to hike and we love history. We thoroughly enjoyed the Andy Griffith Museum which includes other famous and infamous residents! We also enjoyed just walking around the town and the visitor's center. It is all "small town" Americana! The bakery is lethal...wow, just too tasty to resist! You do have to drive 15-25 miles for great hiking but it was all worth it for us.
NEGATIVES: You do have to drive a bit to get the best hiking, but everything else made up for it.

Rates refluctuations Passport America discount. We were only going to stay 1 night, but found out about this being the hometown of Andy Griffith. Should have known by the name of the campground! There is no privacy between sites and in the evening we could hear road traffic. But it is an RV park. And as rv parks go, we loved it.
The sites are spaced nicely. Staff were great, and it just had a very comfortable feeling. We would definitely camp here again.

We used Passport America the first two nights and paid full price the final night. This is probably the most visually appealing RV park we've been to so far. There's a very fascinating history here too. Also, it's close to Mt Airy or "Mayberry" NC for fans of the Andy Griffith Show.

Most privately owned RV parks are like parking lots where you can touch your neighbor and have little to no privacy. This park has a beautiful layout with sites scattered on the small hills throughout the property. No trees or bushes for privacy but spaced out enough to not hear every word from your neighbor.
They allow two nights at the Passport America price, so we paid $16/night + tax. We had both T-mobile and Verizon service. The guest WiFi worked well enough to stream movies, but that could be because we were pretty close to the main office.
Sites are well groomed and level. One shower in each restroom. Showers are free, clean, and hot! Could hear the highway but didn’t bother us.
It’s Andy Griffith Show themed but not over the top. The family history of this park is wild and worth checking out.

Stayed at local private owned RV park Mayberry Campground, near Mt Airy, NC the boyhood home of TV star Andy Griffith. The park is well maintained and hookup were in good order to include water, elec of 20-30-50 amp outlets, sewer plugs and local cable connection all close by site.
All the road and sites are gravel but not a bad deal. the sites are mostly level and there is a bit of space between spots at least in our pull through row of site #69.
Wifi was ok at time and not ok at times depending on time of day.
T-mobile service was good for use with data or voice.
The town of Mt Airy also know as Mayberry RFD is quite the tourist attraction especially on Main St with the barber shop, general store and other well known sites made famous by the 1960's TV show "The Andy Griffith Show". On the weekends it common to see vintage chev, dodges cruise around the town which was set in the 1960's on the show.
There are lots of restaurants, gas stations, a new Starbucks and other places to get stuff as needed.
Be careful with GPS as one couple in our Airstream group was directed to a wrong area. The campground is right off the Interstate 74 and Hwy 601 exit 11, less than like 6 blocks at most. be sure to do google sat view to see the campground.
There is only one bath house on the property and it is at the check in office, womens in front and mens in back. The mens part had 2 toilets and one shower stall which I did not use but heard the water was nice and hot. !! there was also a sink area for shaving etc. (posting pictures)
Since you are close to the I-74 hwy there is some noise but not bad depending on your site. During our stay it was mostly hot so AC was running. One night it get cool enough to open windows and have fans on and still did not notice much noise.

This is a very nice campground, easy access to sites with plenty of space. We utilize the bathhouse which was very clean, and has all the amenities to spend a couple of days. The lots were very level which made setting up easy. If you’re looking for a place with shade, this Site lacks that, however it is close to town and very quiet.

We have never been to Mt. Airy and were pleasantly surprised with the Town and area. This campground was very easy to get to, and was extremely clean. We loved our site #72. I would definitely stay here again and would request site numbers 71-83. We had a nice breeze coming up from the pond and the view was amazing. There are several community fire pits but you can request a fire ring and they will deliver it to your site. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with.

Sites are close together. Some Interstate noise. No shade. Wifi didn’t work.
Sites kept clean. Nice lakes. Funnel cake vendor on site.
My biggest pieve was the sites can hold water in low spots. Needs more gravel would solve.
Overall a nice park for visiting Mt. Airy which was great.
There is a nice steak house 8 miles from park in Dobson.
