Definitely in the middle of nowhere... we got lost about three times! But a beautiful campground. It is smallish, but the view of the water is great! No showers or water though.

We chose to stay here for our visit to Devils Tower to stay away from the crowds. We were about 25 miles away relaxing on a nice little bay of the Keyhole Reservoir. There are 10 campgrounds at Keyhole State Park but only the Tatanka Area has water/electric. All the others are dry camping. Sites are decent size with some nice spacing. Our site was more alone but our door opened away from the water so we sat on the other side. The bay was available for swimming and watercraft. Most people just pulled their boats right up on shore and walked to the campsites. You could walk into the water from anywhere on the shore which made it nice. Sites are gravel surrounded by grass. Roads are dirt and create a lot of dust. Our site was very level as were most that we saw. The campground only list 30 amp electric but all sites in this area now have 50 amp with water. No campfires were permitted. The little town of Pine Haven right around the corner has a new grocery store which was nice. We had excellent Verizon service.

Stayed a week, split time between site 20 & 21 - gravel landing, nice concrete picnic table with fire rings/grill - not especially well kept grounds but acceptable for sure! looks like a local spot for boating, weekends were busier, nice paved bike/walking paths that stretched from the main entrance to the marina - i stayed at tanaka campground with water and electric - free dump at entrance of park - overall quiet and clean - on way in i diverted about 3 miles to a local grocery store to check it out and pick up a few things i forgot, signs were posted - it was priced right and had a little bit of everything - great week of weather - picture is view from site 20

We stayed in the Tatanka campground! Sites are not maintained! Knee to waist high grass throughout campground! Dozens of cigarette butts and other trash from previous campers in our campsite! Park has only one dump station for 6 different campgrounds, which is outside the Park!

Primarily a campground for locals, who occupy several adjoining sites when they come! They bring several pickup trucks and boats, parking everywhere!

People ride ATVs often on the campgrounds dirt roads and some act like they’re riding in an Off-road location! Driving fast kicking up dirt and rocks!

If you do want to visit here, stay Sunday evening through Thursday morning! It’s relatively quiet during this time! Avoid the weekends!

Keyhole State Park has several campgrounds around Keyhole Reservoir. This state park is very popular with local residents for fishing and tends to be busy (and sometimes noisy) on weekend during late spring and summer.

This is a paid campground with fees (camping and day use) during the summer season being $15 for residents and $25 for non-residents. During the off-season months the fees are $10 for residents and $17 for non-residents.

Amenities at the campgrounds where I have stayed include picnic tables, fire pits, dumpsters, vault toilets, and water spigots.

Cell coverage varies depending on which campground you are at within the park, but is generally usable though slow on Verizon. I was not even able to use AT&T last time I was here.

I have camped at Keyhole State Park three times over the past few years. It is often busy during weekends in the summer, but weekdays are fairly quiet in my experience. Off-season tends to be very quiet and I once had an entire camping loop to myself for several days. Many sites overlook the reservoir and provide opportunities for waterfowl and bird watching.

Don't bother. We had Wind Creek site #7 reserved, but it was rutted and very unlevel. We spent over an hour on the phone with Reserve America to change to site #6. We didn't even care about getting a refund because we only stayed one out of three nights there. The place it littered, locals are obnoxious (one mother kept screaming profanities at her young cildren), and the water is slimy with algae. We couldn't have had a worse experience.

The site was not cleaned up and there was no real good location for a tent. There was no nearby potable water. That part of the camp had very few campers. I decided not to stay and get a hotel room down in Moorcroft.

We were here on a weekend in late May so the campground was pretty busy and noisy with people during the day but quieted down at night. Most campers were from Wyoming and were polite.
We booked last minute and somehow got the best site in the campground (#30) with a big grassy area between us and the beautiful lake. No bugs, just ducks and geese. No problem getting level.
Issues with 30amp electricity, but changed to 20 and all was fine.

I am a disabled camper. My particular medical issue is with balance. I have a hard time on uneven surfaces and fall down. I booked Coulter Bay 22 which is a designated disabled spot. Horrible! In the middle of an open field, full of grass and weeds. This location has no amenities for disabled and is unsafe for me. I asked for a different site, they said they were 100% capacity. I can see the area we asked to go to and it’s only 1/4 occupied. Upon checking in we had to pay additional fee for a car and day use. All said we paid $70 for the privilege of overnighting in a grass field. I am angry!

We stayed in the Tatanka Campground, spot 19. A little tight backing in with the truck sticking out in the road while trying to get setup. Our main complaint was the dirt road. It’s summertime and dry in Wyoming. People did not slow down going around the campsites which created a lot of dust from the road. Would be nice if the Park service would water the roads down from time to time. Couldn’t leave the windows open or sit outside without getting dusted when a vehicle would go by. We chose Keyhole for the proximity to Devil’s Tower.
