“A coastal Mexican eatery”
Fuego opened in early October of 2009. It is the creation of Mike and Rosana Perez. Mike, a Mobile native, who left Mobile 12 years ago, began his quest in the restaurant industry. Starting out on the East Coast and holding up on the West managing in a chain-style corporate restaurant, Mike grew more passionate about having his own restaurant. He met Rosana, his wife and co-owner of Fuego. She knew Chef Chris and introduced him to Mike. Chris, too, was growing tired of large-scale operations. It was then that the reality of Fuego came to life. For the next few years, Mike and Chef Chris began cooking for friends and family, testing out their culinary creations. Mike and Chris shared a passion for using the fresh ingredients and resources of the Pacific coast. Corner markets in So Cal always had fresh seafood and produce. The two then realized that what they were onto should be brought to others. But where? Who would appreciate this unique style of Mexican cuisine? Well, that's what led Mike back home to Ole Mobile.
